Torun, Poland
January 20, 2019When we first arrived in Poland, we touched down in Warsaw. It was exciting. We had big plans ahead. We were going to look at our potential new home in a place called Sierpc but that is a tale for another time. Soon after, we found ourselves headed west for the medieval city of Toruń for an overnight stay on our way to Wrocław. Situated on the Wisła river, Toruń was home to Nicolaus Copernicus, one of Poland's greatest minds, a mathematician and astronomer who proved the earth revolved around the sun.

The thing that stands out most though was where we stayed. Beautiful. In the heart of the Stare Miasto (old town) with cafes, a cathedral, museums, shops, it was lovely. Kind of cozy even. It didn't disappoint. Our only regret was we only had one day to spend there. Oh, and our hotel...?
Hey... how did I get in there?!? A face carved in stone and a beautiful crucifix in the main cathedral. |
Apartamenty Molus was amazing. The painted ceilings... OMG. Straight out of another time. I remember they were restoring some of them during our stay. I believe they were all original. I loved them. I hope to recreate one in our own home one day.
Our room, the ceiling above our bed and two more downstairs. Beautiful. |
Outside in the Rynek (town square), street musicians played, crowds mingled in cafés, the atmosphere was wonderful. I had my first true taste of Poland there. We went to a Bar Mleczny (Milk Bar). Pod Arkadami.
I had my first taste of Bigos, (Hunter's Stew) a hearty bowl of sauerkraut, cabbage, kielbasa and pork boiled in a pot to a state of pure yummy goodness. Milk bars are all over Poland. A left over from the old Communist regime with a vintage atmosphere of that era. Plus you can order all the Polish dishes you could ever want which are often quite delicious.
Luckily for us, today, Toruń is only an hour drive away. We cannot wait for a break to go back and see more of this lovely little city. If you happen to be traveling through Poland, I would definitely recommend a stay there. Or if you happen to visit us one day, we can all go together.

Na razie, xoxo

Amazing post! Torun is where we will be going first. I’m glad to have gotten my Poland visa quickly because I wanted to take my wife on a short vacation to Europe and Poland looked like the ideal place. And with your blog’s help, I might just be able to make my wife’s vacation even more enjoyable.

The girl leaves the table, returns to her hotel room, and performs again the video to obtain the sequence of playing cards. She relays this info to players at the table who wait until the pertinent slug of playing cards appears and bet accordingly, Allison mentioned.
